Hello, everybody.
I have a question about the cvt...
I have put a rev.counter in my car and at "normal" driving it goes between 2800-4200r/m at speeds between 70-110km/h. The r/m never goes under 2800?when I climb of the gaspedal... Is that right? When the speed goes down the rotation follows, but I thought that the rotations could get down a little bit more when I drive at the same speed (for example 90km/h). No wonder that it consume about 1l/10km...
Maybe I have to add that the engine is brand new and has only gone 5000km. Does an engine consume more petrol in the beginning??

Hi Christer and welcome to this forum!
that mileage is pretty rare, especcialy on a 343!! but it won't be the reason for the 1:10 fuel consumption.
i've copied the table from the main website for you:
50km/h 1800 r.p.m.
60km/h 2100 r.p.m.
70km/h 2500 r.p.m.
80km/h 2900 r.p.m.
100km/h 3600 r.p.m.
120km/h 4400 r.p.m.
130km/h 4700 r.p.m.
if the rpm's match up the cvt will be fine, if not you'll have to check the clutch adjustment, condition of the vacuum system, and check the condition of the driving belts and the adjustment gap on the secundary pulley's
if those are all ok; give the carb a full cleanup and refurbishment (and the engine a service if you haven't done that yet) with that kind of mileage over the years dirt can easaly mess up some adjustments.

I went out to check and got this.
In normal driving at 90km/h it goes about 3800-4000 depending on the road.
This data I got when I deaccellerated.
130km/h 4700 (4800)r.p.m.
120km/h 4400 (4400)r.p.m.
100km/h 3600 (3800)r.p.m.
80km/h 2900 (3300)r.p.m.
70km/h 2500 (3000)r.p.m.
60km/h 2100 (2200)r.p.m.
50km/h 1800 (2000)r.p.m.
I have changed the belts but not yet adjusted them the second time. Maybe I should do that and check the vacuumsystem...

As good as new, nice car! It will be good to adjust the belts for the second time after replacing/changing!

Thankyou!!!
One thing I miss at the car is a stripekit at the side. Volvo had one that fits between the wheelhouses with three lines that had different grey colour.

I prefer the car without any stripekit. Some new 360's or other coloured 343's/345's but not this one. It looks very clean and original without stripekit!

Wow, this really is a damn fine 343. You almost convinced me to place a louvred panel.
I see you placed a newer type of B14 (besides that it's practically new), is that correct?
Show (off) your car at the Dutch Volvo Fair next week or year!
edit: the "anniversary" striping at the back would fit this car perfectly, I think.

Thanks again!
I can agree with you(slb340) but the point with this car is to find as much bling bling(Volvo original of course) as I can. I have installed el.mirrors, spoiler, jalusi, 4 loudspeakers, rev.counter and X-lights so far and more to come I hope. It?s not easy to find such old parts...
