On the other side it is a well known fact that car workshops nowadays all over the world in well developed countries are parts exchangers. And many efforts are trial and error you have to pay for.
One of the benefits of our forum is that the members exchange experience how to tackle the problems of this type of vehicle with minimal costs.
Due to efficiency this is not expected from the dealer. And nearly impossible for each workshop around the corner, unless you are lucky to have a specialist or someone with old skills nearby.

I sure hope you're wrong there - that real mechanic still does exist, only in this case you were referred to the other type. There is a reason I prefer to do my own work though, and that is related to your tale here.
As for ANWB roadhelp: there's supposed to get you home safe, in case your car does break down. They're not supposed to do the maintenance or definitive repair - that what repair shops, specialists and dealers are for. In that way, they helped me several times very well in the past. And once their makeshift repair made the definitive repair less easy - but that's a price I'm willing to pay.

I think indeed it is a very good place for owners of these cars to "meet" and exchange experiences. It was basically my intention originally (I did not even put the ANWB in brackets as part of the topic's title - it was done by the forum Admin! - as I did not wish to put the emphasis on ANWB as organisation, and leave that impression of "tattletale" (klikspaan? babbelaar? - have finally to learn Dutch one day soon
).
But it's ok to leave the title, as I think somehow the title contributed that discussions went in fewer directions and outside of technical aspect of the topic, which at the end was good.

Beantwoord door V700 register in topic After 7000 km, the clutch stuck again
But this time I looked at it on the spot, and released the fork in 2 sec, after first jacking up the car and removing the wheel.
I have added few photos and some text on the photo album, so who wants to see it and read, they can.
My mistake was not to check the movement of the clutch / slave cylinder piston after first repair, but just left for it to prove in use; otherwise a simple checkup by looking through the engine compartment could immediately point on the causes and solution to this problem...

Usage of a rod slightly longer will solve the problem for some time.
